Department Overview

Santiam Ambulance is a hospital-based ambulance service providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to a primary coverage area of approximately 160 square miles, including Stayton, Sublimity, Aumsville, Marion, and Scio. Additionally, we provide mutual aid to surrounding communities, covering over 1,000 square miles. Unlike some hospital-based teams, our paramedics and EMTs are not stationed inside the hospital or working in the emergency department. Instead, they respond to emergency 9-1-1 calls, delivering prehospital care directly to patients in their time of need.

Shift:

PRN (as needed) 24-hour shifts

Compensation:

$496.00 estimated per 24-hour shift utilizing the federal 8 & 80 rules

Key Responsibilities:

As an EMT with Santiam Ambulance, you will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality prehospital care. Using your clinical judgment and skills, you will assess and treat patients in emergency situations. Your core duties include:

  • Conducting comprehensive multi-system patient assessments in prehospital settings.
  • Administering emergency treatments, medications, and interventions according to established protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Responding to emergency 9-1-1 calls and interfacility transfers, providing timely and effective care to patients at the scene and during transport.
  • Participating in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance clinical skills, with access to specialized training in areas such as OB, ICU, and ED.
  • Supporting department initiatives, including quality improvement activities, public outreach events, emergency preparedness, and protocol development to enhance overall performance and service delivery.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Must be 21 years old at time of hire
  • BLS CPR
  • Current Oregon EMT license
  • Current and valid drivers license with insurable driving record
  • Able to perform all mental and physical duties of the job.
  • Strong team player, positive attitude, and great work ethic.
  • Exceptional customer service, critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • EVOC, NFPA Driver, or equivalent

Our well-established Women's Clinic and Family Birth Center boast a robust referral base with 175-200 births annually and offers a range of birthing options, including in-room laboring tubs. This position will provide coverage for weekday call shifts, acting as the first call OB provider in our low-risk birthing hospital. Salary Range: $1,200 per 24-hour call shift, $175/hour for call back if present for more than 4 hours Schedule: Weekday call shifts (day and/or night), with flexible moonlighting hours based on availability Benefits: Not applicable for moonlighting position; however, malpractice insurance is provided for all call shifts. What You'll Do The CNM will manage labor and delivery, provide prenatal and postpartum care, and ensure high-quality, patient centered care for low-risk pregnancies. Responsibilities: Serve as the first call OB provider during weekday shifts, managing labor and delivery for low-risk patients. Conduct prenatal assessments, monitor labor progression, and provide intrapartum and postpartum care. Provide clinic coverage for prenatal care and weekly OB checks as needed, including routine examinations and patient consultations. Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care. We are a stable, hospital-based department with digital X-ray, fluoroscopy and a Philips 64 slice CT scanner. Though small, we are a busy department serving the patients from the canyons east of Stayton through the West Salem area. RESPONSIBILITIES Graveyard coverage consists of primarily ER patients with some IP exams as needed. You must be able to work independently and manage our teleradiology service functions as well as operate PACS and imaging equipment such as our portable XR units and C-arms proficiently as we do perform general surgery exams at our site.
